Melissa Gut joined the Granite Insurance team in 2022, serving the greater Charlotte area. Melissa grew up in the mountains of North Carolina, playing collegiate volleyball at St. Andrews Presbyterian College and earning her master’s degree at Western Carolina University. Shortly after the birth of her daughter, Melissa and her husband moved to Edmonton, Alberta, where she continued her love for learning, working towards a PhD in Immunology. Not long after the initial move to Canada, their family had the opportunity to travel the world, moving from Vancouver to Bahrain, Hong Kong, and Singapore before returning to North Carolina with her two children, landing in Charlotte. 

Living and working abroad has allowed Melissa to work in several different industries, bringing a vast amount of knowledge and experiences to share and implement when working with business owners. Her life experiences provide a passion for advising and educating that she uses when demonstrating to her clients how to take control of their risk management programs to best fit their business needs and future goals. Melissa believes in a philosophy that puts the client’s best interest at the forefront, providing programs and resources to support you, your business, and your employees year-round. She offers the most value for medium to larger sized companies that require a thoughtful and creative program design combining best risk management practices with innovative and traditional risk solutions to empower your success.

Overseas she has served as a leader with the Hong Kong Women Professionals and Entrepreneurs Association and the Women’s Foundation: Advancing women leaders in Singapore. She also has been heavily involved in volunteering for the Autism Foundation in Canada, Hong Kong, and Singapore. She is also a proud volunteer of Habitat for Humanity. She can use her knowledge of construction to give back to communities in need across the globe. She continues to serve her community as a leader, educator, advisor, and supporter, by partnering with various organizations and associations around Charlotte. She is involved with Autism Strong Foundation, She Built this City, Business Network International, National Association of Women in Construction, Hospitality and Tourism Association of Charlotte, Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas, and Home Builders Association of North Carolina.
