Ray Tedder is the Vice President of Agency Development at Granite Insurance, where he leads the growth and development of a talented team across the agency’s offices in Granite Falls, Boone, and Asheville, North Carolina.

With over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, Ray has held roles spanning claims, underwriting, sales, and agency management. A graduate of Appalachian State University with a degree in Risk Management and Insurance, he is deeply committed to the profession, holding six industry designations (CPCU, CIC, CRM, CBIA, AU, AIS).

Ray has served on numerous industry boards and committees, including the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina (IIANC), the Brantley Risk & Insurance Board of Advisors at Appalachian State University, and the Advisory Board for the Commissioner of Insurance for the North Carolina Department of Insurance. In 2022, he achieved a career milestone by teaching a commercial insurance course at Appalachian State University, sharing his passion and expertise with the next generation of industry professionals.

Beyond the Office

Ray resides in Asheville, North Carolina, with his wife of 29 years, Angie. They have one son, Brennan, a freshman at Appalachian State University, and a Maltese named Dixie-Roo. As empty nesters, Ray and Angie enjoy traveling, sports, and movie nights.
