Executive Assistant
Meet Penny Whisenant
Penny joined Granite Insurance in May 2022 accepting the position of Executive Assistant. The Executive assistant focuses their efforts on supporting the executive with miscellaneous administrative objectives, in addition to regularly defined responsibilities such as event planning, continuing education and licensing.
Penny is a native of McDowell County but relocated to Lenoir in 2006. She resides in Lenoir with one dog and two miniature donkeys. She has an Associate of Applied Science from Western Piedmont Community College and an Associate of Arts from Isothermal Community College.
Penny has a background in the medical field where she worked as a Medical Laboratory Scientist primarily in Blood Bank. The organizational skills she learned there, along with the administrative duties she encountered, led her to embarking on a career change in the Insurance field. She is very active with volunteer work in the community and is a member of the Kings Creek Fire Department Auxiliary.
When not at work, Penny stays busy with home projects, reading and spending time with family and friends.
